Essay 8

In many countries children are engaged in some kind of paid work. Some people regard this as completely wrong, while others consider it as valuable work experience, important for learning and taking responsibility. What is your opinion on this?

A century  ago, it was a usual thing for children to work for money, even on an earlier age. Most of the time they were abused, underpaid, and puted on exhausting tasks. Nowadays, many countries have regulations who strictly forbid  this, but even so, many youngster from around the globe are forced to do it.
Generally speaking, poverty is the mainly reason in children labor, and is very common among countries of The Third World. In many of those nations is just the only way to survive, and even they are obliged by hunger, or by other people (including their parents) the result is the same: children are badly affected, and psychically destroy.  This cannot be consider in any case valuable for children and by all means humanity should take a serious stand against it.
On the other hand, excepting cases mentioned before, the work can be used in learning process as long as this will not disturb child development. Therefore, working should not overcome all the other activity who help  youngsters becoming an adults, such as playing or studying. Moreover, it is important to not forget that the work is not the only  way to teach someone about responsibility, and for this reasons, parents or tutors must choose wisely, and only in the best interest of the children.
Having in mind that, I believe the work can be an instrument in education, and if it is used with precaution could bring many benefits. However, it is very important to remember that the majority of children who work are victim of circumstances, and from this point of view I believe it is everyone’s responsibility to eradicate this issue.
