Some people think that students who don’t take a break in studies between a high school and a university are at disadvantage compared to students that travel and work after high school before furthering their education. Do you agree or disagree?
Education is a very important process in everyone’s life and future. Therefore is quite important how those studies are made, and how students are planning their life. The idea of having a very long pause between high school and university proved to be, in many cases, not a inspired one.
Usually, at the end of the high school pupils are used with a learning program, and their mind and habits are set for study. If this routine is interrupted many of those will find very difficult to start learning again. Of course a break is always necessary but a long one will do more harm than good.
Another false idea is that the working should give some independence to students, and in this way receive proper information about living in a society and gain knowledge about the real world. Not only this will take away a very important portion of their free time, but also could place them in a vicious circle of responsibility. For example, renting a place to live, and moving from home after getting a job, put students in the situation of choosing between earned freedom and study again.
On the other hand, a long break but not combined with work could be taken, as long as is no risk of becoming a habit. In this way, pupils could enjoy their brake, and even more, to learn or understand new things by traveling, reading or any other activity who could develop their knowledge.
To sum up, in my opinion, is a mistake to take a pause for such a long period between years of study, because it doesn’t bring any benefits and put the student in the risk of giving up on learning.
