We are becoming increasingly dependent on computers. They are used in business, crime and even to fly planes. What things will they be used in the future? Is this dependence a good thing or should be more suspicious of their benefits?
Today’s life cannot be imagine without the presence of computers, and everything we do is linked in some way with it, even for the insignificant activities. It has become a part of our life, and now, our new generation cannot imagine humankind otherwise.
In the future, computers will become even more present in any field, especially in medicine and health care. It is my believe that those are the domains with a lot of unused potential. Although robots are used in hospitals (e.g. in surgeries or body exploration), there is a lot of expectation from modern technology. More and more scientists talk about the idea of creating nanorobots, which are very small robots (about the size of a cell) who can fight, from inside of the body, against viruses or infected cells.
However, there is a price that we have to pay for all our earned benefits. The dependency seems to be the price. It is obviously that we rely on computers, and this is not quite a very bad thing as long as we take care of the downside. Just thinking what a disaster will be to lose all the electronic data stored in the world and it is enough to understand the risk we put on. Therefore, we should act responsible and prevent any predictable threat such as magnetic storm or computer viruses.
In my opinion, computer era is only another step in our evolution, and it is normal to have some disadvantages. After all, it isn’t very different from other step that humanity made.
